Azkals delighted to end Suzuki Cup preps with a Kyrgyzstan repeat

By Kevin Estrada

MANILA -- Thomas Dooley, Chieffy Caligdong and the rest of the Philippines national football team expressed sheer delight after seeing off Kyrgyzstan once again in their final friendly before the AFF Suzuki Cup when they met the press last night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Although delighted at the result, the assistant to the former US stalwart sense that they still have some things to improve.

"We need to improve our discipline sa back four," Caligdong said, added that they had good things that they made, including their transition from defence to attack and the half-time switch that led to the winner by Misagh Bahadoran.

"We're on 70% on fitness, pero we add more on the attitude on the field. It's more than 101% if we play yung attitude sa loob ng field," he concluded when asked about the readiness of the team for the Suzuki Cup.

Dooley echoed Caligdong's statements, added that they take a rest today before going back to work in preparations for ASEAN's showcase event.

"I hope no now, that we can even have 20-30% more," the American replied, noting that they have to play their own game come the Suzuki Cup, noting that their opponents in Group A are too close to call.

Match-winner Misagh Bahadoran could not hide his happiness after the win, noting that he came back from hamstring and groin injuries to score the match's lone goal.

"They [Kyrgyzstan] are a good team. I think we're better organized, the matches with Bahrain and North Korea teaches us to fix our weaknesses," he quipped.

For team manager Dan Palami, the win was a huge confidence booster for the Azkals, with the Suzuki Cup just nine days away.

"I think we played better than the two friendlies, not just based on the results, but really how the players moved on the pitch. So I'm quite happy with the where we are right now, and we should be peaking at the right time as we enter the Suzuki Cup," Palami said.

  3. "We need to improve our discipline sa back four," Caligdong said.

Caligdong is such an overrated footballer especially during his NT days, now he's being an idiot of an assistant coach!

Of course the back line will lack a lot of discipline!! That's because it's makeshift and that comes down to the head coaches stupidity of preferring to use players out of position!!!

Complete circus of a coaching staff!!! Fucking unreal!!!

    1. you do realize that we don't have defenders, do you?

    2. no. we have alot of young and good defenders. we have grommen, tacusalme, clarino for example. sana na-anticipate ng head coach yung mangyayate dahil obvious naman na matanda na mga defenders naten, which means anytime pwede magretire and prone to injury. pero hindi, hindi siya nagdevelop ng batang defender kahit isama man lang sa training pool before and friendly games. dooley stupid

    3. "you do realize that we don't have defenders, do you?"

Yes I do realize we lack defenders specifically CB's. Which makes Caligdumbass' comments all the more idiotic!!!

Having said that, the lack of defenders is again down to Dooley's preference of using players out of position!!!

Munoz is a RB yet he prefers Steuble who is a play maker and also prefers Munoz as a winger! Christiaens was called up for the first time since 2014 as well as new boy Felongco yet he used an attacking mid in Ingreso as the starting LB! Could have called up Tacusalme or even an older an experienced head in Sabio for CB's!! He did call up Casambre, but he's only 17 and is suppose to be more of a LB than a CB.

"I think we played better than the two friendlies, not just based on the results, but really how the players moved on the pitch."

Again, a circus of a coaching staff on top of having a deluded team manager in Fatlami!! They played better against Kyrgyzstan because they're a weaker team than Bahrain and North Korea!! Even then, the performance was shit!!! Doesn't look like a Suzuki Cup winning team at all!! Note even close!!!

      Dooley, Caligdong and Palami out!!!!!

    1. ABrooks this is why this website is much constructive and interesting than any other football related sites for Pinoys because its an open blog. A no holds barred tell all attitude belongs here although some are just there to defend their team and players criticism but overall this is the best blog for all Pinoy Footies never minding the name and origin of the person who comments. And besides , the above comments has a sense.

    2. There is no dignity in posting a "No Holds Barred" criticism under a stupid name "Anonymous". I hope that you are not a Pinoy, because all the Pinoys I know here in LA are sincerely honest with dignity and have the GUTS to sign-in their real identity.

    3. ABrooks you are based in LA? that's why you have the guts to ask people here to spill there name? Come to the Philippines and live here then spill all your criticism towards the PFF and its coaches then I will believe you have the real guts than most of us.

    4. sorry but the provenance of comments has nothing to do with the identity of those making the comments. a stupid argument will be a stupid one whether it's made by someone named Solomon or Whatnot. cowardly, my a$s. what the hell are you, a hired gun?

    5. ^"provenance." incorrectly used. in any case, yes you have a point.

    6. Look, there is NO difference between ABrooks and Anonymous, because ABrooks is just my tag name (userID) used in this blogsite. I'm using 20x tag names in the internet, and they are all made-up, not even my real name. But, as a courtesy to you, I would like you to know, consistently who you're arguing with. It is important because I like an honest discussion on issues and have no intention to ridicule, annoy, or curse anybody. Also, LA may mean Los Angeles, Louisiana, or even Laguna or La Union. The internet is virtual reality and I could be a Russian hacker.

  5. Dooley, Caligdong, Palami out? Hhahaha damn we're watching the MNT losing 13-1 to Indonesia again hahahaha! And I don't see you ranting here as soon as Palami and the MNT fade into the forest hahahaha

Guess rants of this great "anons" here are just for anal. No logic at all. Sabio on CB, well, Dangda will just go past him easssy. Casambre is "hilaw", so bringing him on the bench is good. Steuble is a playmaker? Hahahaha! His built and speed is suitable on RB. And as a RB, he can still make some crosses so why not?

The only glaring fact I saw is Ingreso on LB, he's not ready as Suzuki Cup is just over a week away.

ABrooks was right, dont hide on your mom's basement hahahahaha! Stupid anons smh
