Games Today
(Rizal Memorial Stadium)
1 p.m. – UFL PH vs UFL World
3 p.m. – UFL All-Stars vs Perth Glory
The UFL All-Stars expect a much-improved form from visiting Australian side Perth Glory in their faceoff today in the featured match of the UFL All-Star Weekend at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Held to a scoreless draw by UFL champion and league leader Global last Wednesday, Perth is out to show why it is one of the top clubs in Australia’s A-League in its 3 p.m. meeting with the UFL’s top players.
The opening match at 1 p.m. will feature the UFL’s top Filipino players against the league’s best foreign players, with the locals out to avenge last year’s 5-4 loss to the Rest of the World squad.
The UFL stars hope to give Perth a tough encounter despite the absence of several players, particularly top players from defending league champion Ceres-La Salle and national team members that will suit in next week’s friendly with the same club in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Selected were Global’s Jun Badelic, Jerry Barbaso, and Nick O’Donnell; Loyola’s Kou Ichi Belgira, Ian Clarino, Jason de Jong, Daniel Gadia, Tahj Minniecon, and Jinggoy Valmayor; Stallion’s Joshua Beloya and Balot Doctora; Kaya’s Aly Borromeo, Louis Clark, Shirmar Felongco, and Woody Ugarte; and JP Voltes’ Yu Hoshide and Masaki Yanagawa.
Perth is in the country as part of its preparation for the 2016-17 A-League season. After its tie with Global, the Glory would like nothing more than to secure a victory over the UFL stars before wrapping up their trip with a match against the Azkals.
Meanwhile, Global’s OJ Clarino, JP Voltes’ J Baguioro, Kaya’s Jovin Bedic, and Stallion’s Ref Cuaresma lead the UFL Philippines side against the UFL Rest of the World team powered by the JP Voltes’ Japanese tandem of Takumi Uesato and Takashi Odawara.
