Azkal star Stephan Schrock "resigns" from national tem duty

Philippine national men’s football team star Stephan Schrock has left the Azkals, the squad announced on Monday.
“AZKALS Player Stephan Cabizares Schroeck informed Coach Thomas Dooley and the Team Management tonight of his resignation from the Philippine National Football Team (The Azkals),” the team’s official Facebook page wrote in a statement.
The statement added that the Filipino-German Schrock left the squad as he wanted to “pursue new challenges” in his career.
“Coach Dooley and Team Manager Dan Palami regret the decision of Schroeck, but they accept and respect his desire to pursue new challenges. They likewise express their deep gratitude for Schroeck’s commitment to the Azkals in the past and his pivotal contribution to the team and raising football awareness in the country.
“The team wishes Schroeck all the best in his professional career, specifically as a new member of the SPVgg Greuther Fuerth in the German 2nd division.”
Schrock, a veteran of the German Bundesliga, is one of the most seasoned members of the Azkals, providing added bite in the midfield with his stellar dribbling skills and nifty footwork as well as his goal-scoring abilities.
He joined the team in 2011 and made his national team debut during the Azkals’ FIFA World Cup qualification campaign and went on to become one of the best foreign-based players of the squad.

  1. Wow this is a huge blow, although he rarely had the time to train with the squad as Fürth prob wouldn't release him.

Either way: Thanks Schröcky for the amazing performances and games!! Best player the Philippines has had so far!

    1. Woah ok. A short translation for everyone who can't understand German:

Schröck resigned because of Problems in the PFF, because of internal power struggles and because of a lack of respect towards our veteran players (Chieffy and Edsa?). He mainly blames Coach Dooley for this and said that as long as he is coach he will not play for the Philippines. He also did this mainly because he as the captain wants to send a message to the PFF that something has to change. He has had enough.

If that's the case you could say we shouldn't let ourselves be blackmailed by players and stay loyal to our coach. Developing the younger players like Daniels, Aguinaldo, etc is the right step in the right direction. Also, Dooley has stressed mainy times that it is your fitness and performance in training that ensures you a spot in the squad, not past merits.

    2. I think with veterans he means Neil and his recent booting by Dooley for the Peace Cup.

The struggle begins! Shots have been fired! Is this the end of Dooley and Palami?

    3. Shrock was the best player the Azkals have ever had. Ass-kissing but ass-covering comments can't hide the fact that most European based Fil-Fors can't stand the power craziness and crooked manipulation that goes on in the PFF. Unfortunately few of them have Stephan's talent or balls to admit it. This is a dark day for the NT.

  4. Could be just a gimmick he disagree with dooley.
The main reason could be the constant pff training camps and friendlies on no fifa dates.
He beginning to realise this that he could be next without a club if he continue to commit to ppf duties all year long as pff chase the ranking.
